Post-doctoral fellow in Bioinformatics or Biostatistics
A position as postdoctoral research fellow is available at The Cancer Registry of Norway - Institute of Population based Cancer Research, Oslo, Norway. Fellowship duration is 3 years. The position is funded by the Norwegian Research Council program ‘Human biobanks and health data (BIOBANK)’.
The post-doctoral fellow’s objective is to analyze a small RNAs sequencing data set from about 1900 controls, lung-, colon- and rectal cancer samples already produced in collaboration with researchers at the Norwegian Sequencing Centre.
We seek a team member to our multi-disciplinary research group. This group holds expertise in molecular biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics and epidemiology and collaborates with national and international research groups. We are co-localized with The Institute for Cancer Research at the Radium hospital.
Job description
- Bioinformatic and biostatistical analyses of miRNA, registry- and exposure data, and interpretation of results.
- Scientific communication of research results in international journals and participation at national and international conferences.
- Participation in grant application processes.

Qualifications
- Completed PhD degree in bioinformatics, statistics or molecular biology including applied bioinformatics/statistics.
- Experience with handling and analyzing large molecular data sets.
- Experience in programming and high-performance computing.
Personal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and systematically.
- Extensive analytical skills.
- Result oriented

Annual gross salary
- NOK 496.000 - 530.000 p. y. depending on qualifications

The Cancer Registry of Norway (CRN) is an independent governmental institution organized under Oslo University Hospital (OUS). The CRN is a research institution, but is also responsible for registration of all cancer cases in the country, and for providing the health authorities with scientific information and advice. In addition, the Cancer Registry is in charge of the screening programs for both cervical cancer and breast cancer, and is responsible for a pilot project for a nationwide colorectal cancer screening program. The Cancer Registry has approximately 180 employees and is located within the Oslo Cancer Cluster Innovation Park (OCCI) at Montebello, Oslo.
